I am a Scottish-born equestrian photographer, now based between Portugal and the United Kingdom. My work is shaped by long experience with horses and by a life lived across different environments.
Horses have been part of my life since childhood. Riding and working across polo, three-day eventing and traditional country sports established a practical understanding of behaviour, timing and presence — an education that continues to influence how I photograph today.
Alongside this, I trained in interior design, developing a strong eye for composition and visual order. Combined with lived equestrian knowledge, it underpins an approach that values restraint, structure and quiet detail.

The approach
My work centres on composed equestrian portraiture, approached with clarity and intent. Images are shaped through structure and restraint, allowing expression to emerge naturally within form. The photograph is not the pose itself, but what follows — the moment when presence becomes visible rather than performed.
The work moves between portraits of the horse alone and portraits that explore the relationship between horse and human. In both, attention rests on proportion and quiet detail. The aim is not decoration or display, but work that feels resolved — capable of holding its own within a space.
Each piece is created with permanence in mind. These are not images intended for fleeting use, but artworks designed to live within homes, where scale, balance and longevity matter.
Commissions are unhurried and carefully guided. Clients are not expected to arrive with visual direction. The process begins with conversation and observation, allowing decisions to form in response to the horse, the environment and the space the finished work is intended to live within. Direction is offered with clarity, while space is left for the moment to arrive.
Each piece is created with permanence in mind. Images are refined with restraint and presented as complete artworks, curated for longterm presence.
